The second day of action at the Karate One Youth League Harare 2026 delivered strong performances and clear results, as six new champions were crowned. The historic event, the first of its kind in Africa, continues to showcase the core values of karate—discipline, respect, and honour—while giving young athletes a global stage to shine and showcasing the strength of the sport in Africa.

Cadet Kata Male

Abdo Selim of Egypt claimed the Cadet Kata Male title with a dominant 5-0 win over Cristiano Antonio Cibrario Coelho of South Africa. Selim showed sharp technique and control throughout the final, earning unanimous scores from the judges.

Junior Kumite Female -53 kg

Isis Matos of Portugal secured gold in the Junior Kumite Female -53 kg category after defeating Vanessa Josselina Macia of Mozambique 3-0. Matos controlled the match from the start, using clean attacks and solid defence to take the win.

Junior Kumite Male -61 kg

Brendan Engelbrecht of South Africa delivered a strong performance, beating Ismael Niyubuntu of Burundi 6-1. Engelbrecht was sharp and decisive, building an early lead and maintaining it comfortably.

Junior Kumite Female -59 kg

Hannah Bath Soendergaard of Denmark won the Junior Kumite Female -59 kg final with a clear 4-0 victory over Laury Romano of Angola. Soendergaard’s speed and timing made the difference as she controlled the bout.

Junior Kumite Male -68 kg

Paul-Willibald Hoerner of Germany took gold in a tightly contested Junior Kumite Male -68 kg final. He defeated Mbuyulu Ikunangiene of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by hantei (judges’ decision) after the match ended 0-0.

Cadet Kumite Female 61 kg

Vasiliki Fagogeni of Greece completed the list of winners with a 3-0 victory over Norah Van Keulen of the Netherlands in the Cadet Kumite Female 61 kg final. Fagogeni showed strong control and accuracy to secure the title.

Day 2 of the Karate One Youth League Harare confirmed the high level of competition and the global reach of youth karate, especially in Africa with athletes from different countries stepping onto the podium.
