Tokyo will host a series of activities for the Guardian Girls Karate programme this weekend, marking an important step in the global expansion of the initiative led by the World Karate Federation. The events, held around International Women’s Day, aim to strengthen the programme’s presence in Asia and empower women through karate-based self-defence training.

The programme will begin on Saturday, March 7, with the first training session of theGuardian Girls Karate instructors’ course. This course is a key activity of the programme because it prepares women to teach the system and expand it in their own countries.

Representatives from 13 Asian countries are expected to take part in the course, demonstrating the growing interest in the programme across the region. By training new instructors, the initiative will help ensure the continued expansion of Guardian Girls Karate throughout Asia.

The instructors’ course will continue on Sunday. Later that afternoon, anopen seminar for womenwill be held. The seminar will allow participants to learn practical and effective karate techniques designed to help them develop tools to confront gender-based violence.

The activities will reach their main highlight on Monday, when Guardian Girls Karate will be officiallypresented at the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo.During the event, the World Karate Federation and the Japan Karate Federation will sign a collaboration agreement to support the development of the programme in Japan and across Asia.

The event will also feature a live demonstration of Guardian Girls Karate, showcasing the practical techniques used in the programme and the values behind the initiative.

These activities carry special meaning as they take place during the celebration of International Women’s Day onMarch 8.The event offers a meaningful way to mark the occasion through sport, education and empowerment.

Guardian Girls Karatehas become one of the most successful initiatives of the World Karate Federation. By teaching simple and effective self-defence skills, the programme helps women build confidence, increase awareness and gain tools to protect themselves.
