Karate Leaders Meet CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio During Karate One Premier League Rome

A delegation of international and Italian karate leaders met with Luciano Buonfiglio, president of the Italian National Olympic Committee, as one of the biggest karate events of the year takes place in Rome this weekend — the Karate One Premier League Rome.

The delegation was headed by Antonio Espinós, president of the World Karate Federation and Davide Benetello, president of the Karate sector of the Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate and Martial Arts (FIJLKAM), together with Giovanni Morsiani, FIJLKAM president.

Discussions focused on the growth of karate in Italy and the role played by the Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate and Martial Arts in the development of the sport, not only in the country but around the world.

The meeting also addressed the future of karate on the international stage, including the sport’s Olympic prospects and the importance of hosting major competitions to showcase its global appeal.

WKF President Antonio Espinós said after the meeting:

As karate continues its intention to be included in the programme of the Olympic Games, we are pleased to host first-class events in a country with such an outstanding Olympic tradition as Italy.
