FISU World University Championships Combat Sports Begin in Brasília

The FISU World University Championships Combat Sports will bring together some of the world’s best university athletes in Brasília, Brazil, from June 8 to 11. As the most important multi-sport event for university-level combat sports, the championships will feature Karate alongside four other combat sports, creating a unique showcase of talent, skill, and international friendship.

Karate continues to strengthen its position within the university sports movement. The sport has been part of the FISU calendar since 1998, when the first championship was held in France. Over the years, the growing popularity of Karate has made it one of the leading sports in the FISU programme in terms of participant numbers. The championships have become an important platform for young athletes to gain international experience while representing both their universities and their countries.

The Karate competition in Brasília will run for four days, from Monday, June 8, to Thursday, June 11. Athletes from across the globe will compete for medals in an event expected to deliver exciting action and a high standard of performance.
